Now all vehicles registered in New York State must get a safety inspection at a licensed department of motor vehicles inspection station every 12 months or when the ownership of a vehicle is transferred.
A valid inspection sticker must be displayed on your vehicle’s windshield at all times. If you do not have an inspection sticker affixed to the windshield and you can’t produce proof of inspection or your inspection sticker is expired, then you will not be able to renew your registration, it’s very possible you can be stopped by the police and issued a traffic summons and if you are parked on the public roadway…you could receive a parking ticket.
