Translator Katrina Dodson discusses the phenomenon of "Lispectormania" and the pleasures and challenges of translating a lifetime of stories marked by echoes of mysticism, explorations of women's everyday lives, and Lispector’s often-puzzling use of Portuguese.
Katrina Dodson is the translator of "The Complete Stories," by Clarice Lispector, for which she was awarded the PEN Translation Prize in 2016. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
