The MTV EMA nominations are out, and there is some serious girl power going on!

Yes, two of our favorite gals - Katy Perry and Ariana Grande - both scored major noms, and Clevver Music is here to break it all down just for you.
So, just to back up a bit, in case you’re not sure what the EMAs are, it’s basically Europe’s version of the MTV VMAs, so you can expect lots of craziness to ensue when the show actually goes down on November 9.
Now, in terms of who actually got nominated – KP scored the most with a whopping seven nods, while AG got herself six. Pharrell, Five Seconds of Summer both earned five nominations each, while Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, and One Direction each landed four.
And the EMAs actually have a few different categories than the VMAs, such as Best Live, Best Look, Best Song, and Best U.S. Act, with that last one being fan voted. However, we’re sure you want to know who is competing for Best Video – the biggest trophy of the night!!
It’s definitely stiff competition thanks to the nominees: Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow,” Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” newcomer Kiesza’s “Hideaway,” Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” and Sia’s “Chandelier.”

As we mentioned, the EMAs will take place in Glasgow, Scotland on November 9, and will be hosted by Glee’s Darren Criss, as well as Cher Lloyd, and Andrew Schulz. As for performances, Jason DeRulo, Fallout Boy, and Austin Mahone are set to take the stage, so get excited! And if you want to start voting, you can head to mtvema.com from now until November 8.
