One of the terms that you may have heard of is VOCs. In a lof my classes I'll mention VOCs and people really don't know what they are or what the term means. VOCs simply stands for volatile organic compounds. Very often, we have solvent-based cleaners. These solvents are very aggressive to cut through grease and grime however a lot of the inherent properties have VOCs in them. When these VOCs flash off can pose health risks. We do not want to breathe them in. They can be bad for our skin and our lungs. Be very careful with VOCS and to minimize exposure to VOCs. The product label will say what VOCs are in the compound. Do your best to minimize exposure to VOCs as they are defined health risks. In many cases, this means wearing the proper PPE (personal protection equipment).
