The iconic Azure Window on the Maltese island of Gozo collapsed into the sea today.
The breath-taking structure was believed to be thousands of years old, but rough seas have finally taken their toll and the limestone arch crumbled into the Inland Sea.
One of the most popular destinations on the Maltese archipelago, the turquoise waters surrounding the limestone sculpture have been a popular site for swimming, scuba diving and boating.
In 2012 a large piece of rock dislocated from the imposing arch, an alteration that has significantly led to its devastating demise.
