MORE TRAINS ARE COMING!
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has recently delivered the 12th brand-new 4th Generation trains to #LRT1 (#Gen4LRT1) train set at the LRMC Baclaran Depot in Pasay.
A total of 120 light rail vehicles (30 train sets) from Spain and Mexico are scheduled for delivery until June 2022 to be used for the existing system and the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project of the DOTr, LRTA, and the LRMC.
Each Gen-4 train set consists of 4 LRVs (bagon), which can accommodate around 1,300 passengers. The state-of-the-art passenger train sets have destination signs up front, digital system, and special areas for wheelchairs making them PWD-friendly.
These trains will be deployed for revenue use on the existing system by next year, after completing safety checks, inspections, required test runs with minimum kilometers, and acceptance tests.
