The proper way to clean a fireplace is to use a soft bristle brush and start at the top. Work your way down, brushing all the brick to the top and sides of the fireplace. Brush the front of the grill that covers the glass, and finish by brushing any ash off the stone in front of the fireplace.
Other fireplace cleaning tips include: Make sure the fireplace is cool to the touch, and all embers have been extinguished before beginning the cleaning process.

Use a fireplace shovel and a dustpan to remove any ashes and debris from the fireplace. Be sure to dispose of the ashes in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid, as they can remain hot for several days and pose a fire risk.

Use a fireplace brush or a vacuum with a hose attachment to remove any soot or creosote from the fireplace's walls. If the build-up is particularly heavy, you may need to use a specialized creosote remover.

Remember to always exercise caution when cleaning a fireplace and follow all manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace model.
