Surf fishing has been dismal for me this year. I used my best surf perch rig to catch these fish. It's one of the best saltwater rig for beach fishing - the Hi-Lo fishing rig.
For my gear setup, I'm using a Penn Battle 2 4000 spinning reel. It's a very good reel for surf fishing here on the Oregon coast. I highly recommend it.
Rod: I'm using an Okuma Celilo 9'6". It's super light and lets you cast pretty far out there.

For hooks, I use a #4 baitholder hook, and a 2 oz weight.
