In this video we teach you how to replace an outlet or install a tamper resistant outlet. For this project we upgraded the existing original outlet to a new decora style outlet with a screwless cover plate for a new refreshed look that made a big difference in updating the home.

How To Replace An Outlet:
1. Turn off power to existing outlet at circuit breaker and confirm the power is off with a non contact voltage meter.
2. Remove existing cover plate.
3. Remove outlet from junction box.
4. Take picture of existing wiring on existing outlet.
5. Remove wiring from existing outlet.
6. Install existing wiring on new outlet. In this video we chose to replace the existing outlet with a white decora style tamper resistant outlet.
6. Install new outlet in existing junction box.
7. Secure cover plate for outlet.
8. Turn power back on at circuit breaker and test the outlet.
