Alstom is a well-renowned French company, operating worldwide in the rail transports market, passenger transportation, signaling and locomotives. They have been considered as one of the major players in this industry, operating for more than 100 years now.
However, after the 1980s, this field of business, in particular, became a bumpy road to ride on, as new technologies kept coming into this industry and changed the industry trend every few years. So, in order to stay in business, along with its core business of train manufacturing, Alstom started to expand its operations to train maintenance as well. However, Alstom faced some crucial challenges there as well.
In this case study, we tried to discuss how Alstom addressed those issues and overcame those challenges in an innovative way over the period.
