A grand welcoming ceremony was held for President Xi in the Rwanda capital, Kigali on Monday morning. Xi was accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan.

China-Africa cooperation and other regional and international issues of common concern were on the agenda. China and Rwanda have vowed to write a new chapter in bilateral ties. China has welcomed Rwanda's participation in the international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The two countries have embarked on 61 projects worth nearly $400 million to help advance industrialisation and modernisation. The Chinese leader also offered greetings and good wishes to the government and people of Rwanda.
