(2 Nov 1994) Chinese Prime Minister Li Peng, touring South Korea's industrial
giants as part of his five-day visit, won a promise on Wednesday
(2/11) for a $3 billion investment in his country. As Li visited
Samsung Electronics Co's semiconductor plant in Kiheung, south of
Seoul, the company announced it had agreed to invest $3 billion
over 20 years to build an electronics complex in the Chinese city
of Tianjin. The prime minister's wife, Madame Li Peng meantime visited the Yong In Farmland theme park near Seoul on Wednesday, to open Panda World. The centre hopes to breed from a panda, presented by China.
