As the Northern Territory general election approaches, Chief Minister Michael Gunner has demanded answers from the Country Liberal Party (CLP) opposition over budgeting and costs.
“You should be able to add it up, then you should tell Territorians what it is, and then after you’ve told Territorians how much you’ve promised tell them what you are going to cut, sack or sell,” he said.
CLP Leader Lia Finocchiaro said her party would be able to report on costings when they have access to the Treasury analysis.
“The Chief Minister is playing cheap politics at this election and has spent the entire election campaign hiding from debates, running away from Territorians and not talking about his plans for the future,” she said.
While Mr Gunner’s campaign has focused on the state Labor government’s strong response to the coronavirus, his critics have said his weak economic record prior to the virus is also important.
