Bettany follows in the footsteps of the Romans who wanted guidance when Hannibal was preparing to invade, and finds fragments from the ancient roman prophecies. She then visits what was the Roman port of Ostia and recalls how Rome arranged to bring the sacred icon of Cybele into the city. It's believed what followed changed the course of the war and Roman history. Rome celebrated by hosting an annual festival for Cybele, with priests making the ultimate sacrifice to the ‘the great mother’ by castrating themselves.
