Garut is surrounded by volcanic mountains that are still active, resulting in the delicious taste of coffee which has been famous since the 18th century in European countries.Quality and high-tasting coffee is not only determined by the type of soil, acclimatization and topography or known as geographical indications, but cultivation techniques and post-harvest processing greatly determine the taste of coffee.
Since 2014 Arabica coffee in Garut Regency has had a geographical indication certificate with the name Arabica Java triangle qwerty coffee from the regional variantAs of 2019, Garut Regency already has nearly 6,000 hectares of Arabica coffee plants, spread across the highlands of Garut Regency, in almost 31 sub-districts, a total of almost 4,000 hectares of Arabica coffee has been harvested. Garut Arabica coffee is planted around the foot of Mount Papandayan, Mount Cikuray, Mount Mandaragiri, Mount Guntur and Mount Talaga Bodas with a height of approximately 1200 to 1,600 meters above sea level.Coffee is dried in the sun until dry with a remaining water content of between 14-12 percent.
