Unfortunately, their highly radioactive nuclear waste was disposed of carelessly; stored in leaky containment tanks or simply dumped into lake karachay.
This led to the rise of the most dangerous lake in the world. Spending even less than an hour in this lake, will bathe your blood with a lethal dose of radiation!
The effects?
For workers and residents living around that area: there's a 21% increase in cancer cases, a25% increase in birth defects, and a 41% increase in leukemia.
So if you decide to go to Russia for a vacation, best to keep away from the beautifully dangerous Lake Karachay.
