In this video I go over a book that is excellent for learning mathematics. It covers differential equations, partial differential equations, complex variables, etc. If you know some calculus then you can read this book and learn mathematics. It is called Advanced Engineering Mathematics and it was written by Wylie.
This book actually belonged to Augustus Prince. Augustus served in World War II and was the first black radarman in the US Navy. He was a Nuclear Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The book is filled with notes that Augustus made and it even contains some of his exams. What is really impressive is that he made notes throughout the entire book. You can find his writing even in the latter chapters, which shows he spent a great deal of time learning from this book.
I have more books from the Augustus Prince collection and will hopefully be making more reviews on these books. While I did not know Augustus personally I can tell he was a person that deeply cared about his math and physics books. He even kept receipts of various books he purchased throughout his life, many of which he had shipped from overseas. I hope this video helps his legacy live on, even if only in a very small way.
