Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara, Erick Thohir mengumumkan, Rabu (24/8), bahwa pemerintah dan DPR memutuskan untuk melakukan skema penyelamatan Garuda Indonesia dengan menunda kewajiban pembayaran utang atau PKPU. Pemerintah akan mendukung proses tersebut melalui penyertaan modal negara hingga Rp 7,5 triliun yang diambil hampir 1,5 tahun lalu. Pemerintah juga akan menambah jumlah pesawat, baik dari Garuda Indonesia maupun Citilink, serta menurunkan harga tiket maskapai nasional.

Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir announced on Wednesday (8/24), that the government and House of Representatives decided to carry out a rescue scheme for Garuda Indonesia by postponing the debt payment obligations or PKPU. The government will support the process through the state equity participation of up to 7.5 trillion Rupiah which was taken almost 1.5 years ago. The government will also increase the number of airplanes, both from Garuda Indonesia and Citilink, and reduce the national airlines ticket prices.
