For the Birds invites visitors on an immersive journey through a woodland filled with over 20 light and sound installations inspired by the delicate beauty of birds.
A firm favourite with Lumiere Durham visitors in 2017, For the Birds returns for the festival’s 10th anniversary edition.
Venture outside the city centre to experience a nocturnal adventure in the wilderness of Durham University’s Botanic Gardens.
About the artists
Jony Easterby is a producer and artist whose work explores the fragility of the natural world. He has created permanent light and sound works for sites around the UK, including White Cliffs of Dover and Grizedale Forest.
Mark Anderson uses light, sound, electronics, kinetics, fire and pyrotechnics to make site-specific temporary installations and performances.
Kathy Hinde’s work fuses nature and technology through audio-visual installations and performances.
Ulf Pedersen’s practice combines light and sound and his works often rival architecture in scale.
Pippa Taylor is a sculptor and painter specialising in wood carving and applied decorative painting.
