Black eye peas recipe
1 1lb bag of dried black eye peas
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
1 smoked turkey wing
1/2 onion (diced)
1-2 bay leaf
Lawry’s seasoning salt (season to taste)
Kosher salt (season to taste)
Black pepper (season to taste)
Onion powder (season to taste)
2 tbs canola oil
Start by adding oil to pot over medium high heat allow for oil to heat add in onions and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add in chicken broth and water season to taste with dry seasonings (do this before adding any raw meat). Now add turkey wing and black eye peas and bay leaves reduce heat to medium low cover with lid leaving room for steam to vent cook on low simmer for 1 1/2 hours. If deboning your meat remove after 1 1/2 and debone add meat back to pot stir to combine place lid back as before and continue to cook for another hour until peas are tender. Turn off heat plate and serve. Enjoy.
