Anybody here have experience with wild molly species? Ive just collected an endemic caribbean island molly called Machuri (poecilia vandepolli) and they really behave like wild fish: (im used to domestic livebearers) most hide whenever they see a human. They also seemed to be confused by the "glass" for several hours, constantly trying to find "openings" like birds do with windows, but figuring out that the glass was a barrier after a while, now they just treat it like a wall they can see through....
They are in a 30 gallon aquaponic tank with lots of native foods naturally ocurring (insects, feral duckweed, southern cattail etc) as I have the system on the porch, not too much l. They are fully euryhaline in the wild (even hypersaline), and the caught ones are eating well and behaving quite naturally, probably since almost all the plants in the setup were collected with them in their natural habitat, so the environment is physically not too different from what they know. Any tips on domesticating wild livebearers? Tx
