Enrique Granados Campiña ( Lérida , July 27 , 1867 - English Channel , March 24 , 1916 ) was a Spanish composer , pianist and educator linked to the modernist movements. [ 1 ] He is known mainly for his piano work, especially for the Goyescas suite (1911), on which he also based the opera of the same name.
He created the piano school in Barcelona, which has produced such relevant figures as Frank Marshall , Monserrat Torrent , Narcisa Freixas , Rosa Sabater , Alicia de Larrocha and Douglas Riva. He is usually framed in modernist movements, especially in symbolism. [ 2 ] She died in the shipwreck of the Sussex ship , in the English Channel, when it was torpedoed by the German navy during the First World War .
The personal collection of Enrique Granados is kept in the Library of Catalonia and in the Museo de la Música de Barcelona .
