In today's video we take a look at Surge, a powerful open source synth (for Windows, OS X and Linux), and then deconstruct a track I made using it for everything from drums to pads.
Formerly a commercial product by Vember Audio, Surge combines built-in wavetables, FM synthesis and a powerful modulation section in an interface that isn't nearly as daunting as you'd expect. I was using version 1.6.0 and experiencing bugs, but I see now there's an update from 9 June 2019.
