The fastest tennis serve ever recorded was hit by Australian player Sam Groth at the 2012 Busan Open Challenger Tennis Tournament in South Korea. His serve clocked in at an astonishing 163.7 mph (263.4 km/h).  

However, it's important to note that this record was set at a Challenger event, which is a lower-level professional tournament. The ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) does not officially recognize it as the fastest serve due to a lack of uniformity in the calibration of the serve speed tracking equipment at Challenger events.  

The ATP's official record for the fastest serve belongs to American John Isner, who served a 157.2 mph (253.0 km/h) missile during the 2016 Davis Cup.  
These incredible speeds are a testament to the power and athleticism of professional tennis players.
