The Hudson Bay pattern axe is one of the most recognizable axe patterns on the planet.
Fur trappers in the...you guessed it...Hudson Bay/North Eastern region of America popularized this pattern a few centuries ago.
Until earlier this year Council Tool had manufactured a Hudson Bay that resembled the popular Tomahawk style of Hudson Bay.
It looked cool and functioned well but it had a major flaw.
The short eye and long face made it way too easy for the user to apply too much force to the eye and snap the handle.
The designers at Council decided to create a version of the Hudson Bay based off of a lesser-known Hudson pattern.
What they created is a far superior, more robust, and more reliable Hudson Bay Camp axe.
Currently, this new pattern comes on both a ~18" and ~24" handle.
In this video, Brandon shows you how the 24" performs when taking down a smaller tree.
This axe was designed to help trappers at camp and on the trapline so we decided to demo this axe with a task that you might need to use this axe to do.
This would be a great size tree to use as the main beam in a lean-to style shelter - or really any kind of shelter.
**THE TREE WAS ALREADY DEAD**
So if you were planning on summoning Captain Planet via a sweaty, all caps YouTube comment you can take a breath and start tapping that delete key.
Also, in case you were wondering, the poll of this axe is hardened. Which shows how much time and effort Council Tool has put into creating this fantastic tool.
