Sarah Moss will be reading from, and in conversation about, her eighth novel The Fell (Picador, 2021), a sharply observed, darkly funny and unbearably suspenseful novel, asking probing questions about the place the world has become since March 2020, and the place it was before. A novel about compassion and kindness and what we must do to survive.

Moss is the author of Summerwater (Picador, 2020) a best book of the year in the Guardian and The Times, and Ghost Wall (Granta, 2018) a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice and a best book of the year in Elle, The Financial Times, and other publications. Her previous books include the novels Cold Earth, Night Waking, Bodies of Light, and Signs for Lost Children, and the memoir Names for the Sea: Strangers in Iceland. She teaches at University College Dublin.

Rachel Hewitt is a Lecturer in Creative Writing and Director of NCLA at Newcastle University. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
