Choose Your Boss and Then Give Back with Mehdi Tazi
Hi, Jim Hotaling here in beautiful Casablanca with Mehdi Tazi. The President of Beassur Marsh. Mehdi, thank you very much for joining us today.

We've been talking off-camera about the topic of leadership, and it's been fascinating. It's on top of the mind of everybody, of course, because it's the core foundation required. I'd be interested to know if upon reflection if you could go back in time to when you first started off in the business world, what would be a key piece of advice that you would give a younger self?
Well, I would say first, I wish I could hear someone at that time that could give me one or two pieces of advice before I started. If I had to, to keep in mind, one would be, choose your boss, choose where you want to go to work, and make sure that the person who manages you will take you one step further. That's very important because otherwise you get lost somewhere.
So some people will tell you to choose your mentor. Others will tell you chose your boss. But I definitely think that the period between when you leave college or school and then you start working it's still a learning process that lasts for five, six, seven, ten years. That's when you need to have someone who can take you from your hand and take you one step further.
So that's one. And the second one would be- give some time back to the community. Take a little bit of time, 10 to 20 percent of your time, but do something out of work, out of leisure, not sports, something else where you give back something to the community.
So almost both of those are really the point about being less selfish about yourself. And that's when most people are. They're all concerned about themselves. But finding someone that will help you and giving back, also.
Yeah, the nice thing is, you realize that when give back to the community somehow you get a return.
A Little bit of karma. Yeah.
