Gajah adalah mamalia besar dari famili Elephantidae dan ordo Proboscidea. Secara tradisional, terdapat dua spesies yang diakui, yaitu gajah afrika dan gajah asia, walaupun beberapa bukti menunjukkan bahwa gajah semak afrika dan gajah hutan afrika merupakan spesies yang berbeda.
