I want to make my mom’s sweet potato casserole recipe for the holidays. However, there is a problem. I cannot find any sweet potatoes. In Spanish, they are called batata, papa dulce, or camote. No matter what you call them every fruver and grocery store I go to in Bogota, does not have them. This leaves us with one option. To go to one of the most important plazas or fruit markets in the city Paloquemao. This place is huge and it is really easy to get lost inside. It is a little chaotic with all the people and everyone yelling. You can find anything you can possibly imagine in this place flowers, fish, meat, all kinds of different fruits and vegetables and fingers crossed sweet potatoes.

We will also take you to a local fruver to show you the prices of different vegetables and fruits. We were not able to do that in Paloquemao because there are not any posted prices. The vendors just make up the prices it feels like. One vendor will tell you one price and then the vendor right beside them will have a different price.
