In today's video, we will take a critical look at Instagram for photographers. That photographers are complaining about the lack of attention on the platform is well-known. An often overlooked aspect is how Instagram influences your photography—and not always for the better. Its algorithm is polarising and cornering you in, its cropping ratios are prohibitive and photographers are incentivised to follow trends rather than their own photographic vision. In this video, I hopefully not only show the bigger picture of how Instagram might negatively impact your creative vision but also how you can use Instagram while overcoming its worst impacts through some practical tips and tricks.
