Jim Bob and Michelle raised their children following the teachings of Bill Gothard's Institute in Basic Life Principles, although many of the married children have started to veer from these teachings with their own families. Their involvement in IBLP lead to a documentary called Shiny Happy People, which premiered on Amazon on June 1, 2023.
