Today, we are going to show you how to diagnosis problems with your ride-on car battery. There are many different signs to suggest that your battery is coming to an end of its working life. These signs apply to all six, 12 and 24-volt variants.
In this video, we're going to show you the most common symptoms and telltale signs of a depleted battery.
The car begins to slow. If the car begins to slow, this could be a sign to suggest that the battery is dying. Low battery voltage.
If the media player is showing low battery voltage or when the vehicle is under-load voltage drops, then this is likely because the battery does not have enough power to move the car. The car does not power on. This is self-explanatory. If the car does not power on at all, this could be a sign that the battery is dead.
Only the sounds and lights work. The music and lights require very little power from the battery, whilst the movement of the car uses nearly the full capacity to work. If this is the case, the battery could be the cause.
Sounds restart when the pedal is pressed. If, when the pedal is pressed on the car, you hear an obscure sound or the engine sounds resets, this is a common sign that the battery needs replacing. Lower run time. The usual run time of our ride-ons is around an hour on a full charge.
If you notice a considerable drop in run time, then this could be another sign. So how do we test the battery? We recommend fully charging the battery for the suggested time in the manual and then testing the voltage with the multimeter.
If the battery is 20% lower than its actual voltage and after a full charge, then this would suggest that the battery is dead. What can I do if my battery is dead?
If your battery dies within the 30 days of purchase, we are more than happy to replace this under warranty. However, if your battery does deplete any time after this then, unfortunately, we're unable to replace the battery free of charge.
The battery is deemed as a consumable item, therefore replacements are chargeable. Replacement batteries can be purchased from our website at RiiRoo.com.
If you are unsure what battery you require, then you can take a photo of the battery, ensuring you capture the white writing on the side and email this to our customer service team, hello@riiroo.com, and they will provide you with the link to where you can purchase replacements.
