French carmaker Renault’s shares lost as much as 22 percent of their value on Thursday after news broke of an investigation into the company. The CGT Renault union said on Thursday agents from the French anti-fraud unit raided various company sites last week. The agents seized the personal computers of several directors. Union representatives say they demanded information from management on Wednesday but did not receive answers. In December, Renault said it would invest 55 million dollars to ensure the actual performance of its cars matched the emissions measurements in official test conditions. Another major European carmaker, Volkswagen, was hit by an emissions scandal late in 2015, resulting in recalled vehicles and steep fines.
