In response to queries from The Straits Times, a spokesman for the Ministry of Trade and Industry said on Wednesday (Oct 20) that Singapore's priority is to reduce its emissions through encouraging industrial energy efficiency and adopting emissions reduction measures. But "the use of carbon credits complements these efforts", he added.
Science and environment correspondent Audrey Tan explains what carbon credits are, and looks ahead to the upcoming United Nations' climate change conference COP26.
