Natural flavors or flavoring can be something you need to stay clear of, or they may be just all natural food extracts…
The problem is that the FDA/FTC requires extracts to be legally written in a certain way on the label. Not every company chooses to follow this, but if they’re doing it by the letter of the law they must…
So if natural flavors come from mold or genetically modified corn (GMO) then that is certainly something to stay clear of. However, if the natural flavor comes from an organic vanilla or fruit extract than this is just adding a boost of flavor to a product… (Unfortunately both ways must be labeled as “natural flavors.“)
In the end, the choice is always yours, but it’s important we understand the nuances in the field of human nutrition and food products!
