"'Inzovu Y'Imirindi' is one of those African tapes that somehow made its way to the blogosphere but information on it is rather scarce. It's written by Bizimungu Dieudonne and sung together with his wife, Uwimbabazi Agnès, with some session musicians helping them. The couple was murdered in 1994 in the Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi. This tape is their legacy. The album combines Western instruments and influences, with Rwandan rhythms, melodies, and lyrics that express deep love for the country, its nature, culture, and its people. For example, there's a song about different mountain peaks in Rwanda, which grew so big it became two tracks.
Some songs are more danceable driven by the drum machine and bass guitar, while others remain sparse and acoustic, in a folk-like way. They all have a DIY quality and were clearly recorded on a low budget but in this case it just makes everything sound more charming and pure."
