On Saturday 18th September 2021 the first ever London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally set off from the banks of the Thames, heading for Brighton seafront.
Inspired by The Big Lemon and proudly sponsored by EDF, the aim was to celebrate and demonstrate the rapid development of electric vehicles and renewable energy technology. The event included nine different categories of electric vehicles from e-bikes to buses, all of which were showcased on Brighton seafront after crossing the finish line where members of the public could chat to the participants and learn about the different vehicles.
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony at The Grand, attended by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove. Awards were given for the entries that used the lowest amount of energy in each category, with additional prizes for most innovative, most sustainable and best presented vehicles.
