Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today. The two met for nearly an hour at the prime minister's residence.

CM Jagan asked PM Modi to give the state special status to prevent developmental imbalance. In his statement to the Prime Minister, the 15th Finance Committee said that it was not required by the Finance Committee to grant special status. The Prime Minister informed the Prime Minister that the 15th Finance Committee has made it clear that the special status is under the central government and the central government can take the appropriate decision. Considering this, the state is asked to give special status to the state.

In a letter to the Prime Minister said that steps are being taken to complete the Polavaram project by 2021. The relief and rehabilitation of all the families in Mundu areas has to be done according to the planned schedule. The estimated cost of the Polavaram project has reached Rs 5,549 crore, of which Rs 33010 crore is required for R&R. The Technical Advisory Committee of the Central Water Resources Department has described the estimates of the Polavaram as Rs.55549 crore. He said the administrative clearances for this had not yet come, and asked for special attention as soon as possible. The state government has yet to pay Rs 3320 crore for the Polavaram project and has urged the central water department to release the amount immediately.
The Central Government has agreed that the revenue deficit will be replaced by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. The Prime Minister has asked the central government to provide Rs 18969.26 crore and the amount should be paid as soon as possible. The Prime Minister said that only Rs 10,610 crore came from the central government in the current fiscal, compared to a year ago. He requested the Union Finance Ministry to release the pending grants. He urged immediate steps to be taken to construct the Kadapa Steel Plant and to fund the construction of the Ramayapatnam Port. He also asked the Prime Minister to release funds for the Krishna-Godavari rivers. If the capital is allocated Rs.2500 crores ... only Rs.1000 crores has been released and the rest of the funds should be released soon.
