(28 Feb 2017) The best-masked costume contest took place at the end of the Venice Carnival in St Mark's Square on Tuesday.
This year's competition was won by Anne-Marie Lombardo and Annie Czerwenka from France for their "The Heart of Venice" creation.
Their dress represented each part of the Venice lagoon: the masks and the painting for Venice, the glass fountain on their hats for Murano and the fabrics for Burano.
The Carnival will finish on Tuesday evening with a night of music and partying after 17 days of celebration, before the beginning of Lent.
