There is a very thin line between suffering and pain, and that line is perception,
There are many ways of perceiving pain,
In sports for example, pain can be perceived as beneficial, you don’t mind the pain mentally because you know that it is necessary for your growth.
But when it comes to emotional pains, that’s when the mental reigns unchallenged.
That’s where our childhood traumas and narrow conclusions loom over unchecked.
But all it takes is a precious moment of presence, where you see yourself with fresh eyes.
Where you detect the compulsion to engage with an unconscious negative interpretation and for the first time you see that it’s not truthful, nor beneficiary.
Now you have a newfound choice to not engage in it.
Please know that this perspective may not change the way you perceive suffering instantly (although it might), but it can help you to remember to slow down when you experience suffering next time and to simply observe your interpretation of the situation.
Shift your focus from the experience of suffering to your subjective interpretation of that experience,
You can feel your body and calm it by consciously breathing. This alone can allow so much presence to flow in.
Wishing you all love and patience my friends,
