This song is about the return of Juan Domingo Perón in 1973, when he returned from his exile in Spain to his old homeland in Argentina to become politically active again. Perón won the Argentine general elections in September 1973 and was able to unite 61.85% of the vote for himself and his Justicialist Party. Shortly after taking office as president, he died on July 1, 1974 at the age of 78.
His wife Isabel took over the reins of the nation until she and the Peronist government were toppled by a CIA-funded coup.
Peronism is seen by many political scientists as an Argentine variant of Italian fascism: I wonder to what extent fascism is "capitalism in decay" when the US has tried to suppress any fascist resistance to financial capitalism? Anyway...
