A young goat and his grandfather are out looking for salt that is essential for the survival of all the inhabitants of their village. It seems their reserves have been carried away in a landslide, and the situation has grown desperate. When a marine turtle appears in the village looking for the root of the wild crocus with miraculous healing properties, in order to save his sick grandson, it seems that their problems are over. A deal is then struck: if the goat manages to find the root, the turtle will supply the village with all the salt it requires. After an unfortunate misunderstanding has been cleared up, the turtle teaches the young goat and his grandfather how to obtain a practically everlasting supply of salt by letting seawater evaporate in special vats.
