NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite launched into orbit earlier this month, where it will use the vantage point of space to study microscopic life in the oceans and microscopic particles in the atmosphere. Scientists are ready to dive into the data: At this panel, several researchers will discuss how PACE measurements of ocean color will help study fisheries, identify harmful algal blooms, and monitor the health of ocean ecosystems in a changing climate.
Panelists were:
- Jeremy Werdell, PACE Project Scientist (NASA Goddard)
- Clarissa Anderson
Director, Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System (SCCOOS)
Director, Cooperative Institute for Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Systems (CIMEAS)
Scripps Institution of Oceanography
- Shelly Tomlinson, Research Oceanographer (NOAA’s National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science)
- Aimee Neeley, PACE support scientist, ICESat-2 applications lead (NASA Goddard)
Recorded 2/20/2024 at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in New Orleans.
