Remember Budi? Last year, he was given a second chance at life in the wild, released alongside several other orangutans by the BKSDA and our partners at YIARI. Did you know that orangutan release expeditions are really expensive? In fact, they cost more than $40,000 – but the impact on these orangutans and the biodiversity of the forests is PRICELESS.

Fortunately, we were able to fund our partners in achieving this. However, in 2023 we didn’t reach our fundraising target for the year. So as we look to the future, we’re concerned about what a lack of funds could mean for orangutan releases. Please donate to our Shortfall Appeal to ensure the day of stopping releases never comes.
Here’s how your donations can help continue to release orangutans and ensure their safety for years to come:
💉 $25 goes towards covering the costs of all the necessary veterinary equipment and supplies.
📋 $50 can support post-release monitoring for a single day, helping ensure that orangutans like Budi remain safe in their new home.
🦧 $100 could go towards the costs of a transportation crate being trekked through the rainforest
But it doesn’t stop there! Donations also support vital aspects of the release process, including food and drink, staffing for the release team, pontoon floats to ensure transport crates remain safe on boats when crossing rivers, and community outreach projects.
