Moreton-in-Marsh is a town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds. It developed as a market town in the 13th century - there is still a very well-regarded weekly market - and the High Street, following the path of the Roman Fosse Way, has many 17th and 18th-century buildings. Moreton is on the Evenlode river.
Unusually for the present-day Cotswolds it is on the railway - the Cotswold Line which joins Oxford and Hereford.
During the 1939-45 War the nearby RAF Moreton-in-Marsh was home to training squadrons operating the Wellington bomber. The airfield is no more but there is a Wellington Aviation Museum which traces its history and that of the Royal Air Force.
