Italian Teenager Guido Pini recently made racing headlines when it was announced that he would join the Moto 3 world championship ranks in 2025. He has been ripping up tracks on his motorcycle since he could barely stand. He soon displayed his precocious talent, and collected race victories and podiums by the wheelbarrow load.
Guido ventured into the ultra-competitive world of European Talent Cup racing in Spain as a 13 year old. He soon found his footing, and in 2022 claimed the European Talent Cup title. He also earned selection to the prestigious Red Bull Rookies Cup series, and he soon proved his mettle at this level of competition, with a highest race finish of second at Le Mans.
Guido advanced to the FIM Junior GP class in 2023. This MotoGP stepping-stone series is the last rung of the ladder before venturing into Moto3 GP racing. His year started disastrously, though, since he was forced to miss the first five rounds of the championship due to a pre-season injury.
Once fit to race, Guido came out of his corner swinging. He claimed pole position - and a race victory on debut in the class, and set tongues wagging worldwide. He continued on his winning ways, and despite missing such a large chunk of the season, finished second in the final championship standings. This earned him a special dispensation to join the Moto 3 world championship ranks at only 17 years of age.
