Sandeep Lamichhane is a Nepalese cricketer and a part of the Nepal national cricket team. The teenager (18 years old) is famous as a leg break bowler. He played for his country at the U-19 Cricket World Cup, where he picked 14 wickets. He played against many countries including Namibia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Ireland. He became the fifth bowler in the world to make a hat trick in the Under-19 World Cup when he took five wickets against Ireland. The ‘King of Spin’ as he is commonly known as, Sandeep took 17 wickets in six matches during the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament and was awarded the ICC World Cricket League Division Two Player of the Tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) named him as one of the ten players to watch for in 2018. When the Delhi Daredevils purchased him for INR 2 million in 2018 (INR 20 lakhs), he became the first Nepalese cricketer to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 18-year old was also a key member of the Nepal side which tried its fortunes at the 2019 World Cup qualifiers. Michael Clarke admired his talent and passion for cricket and invited him to play Australia Grade cricket in in late 2016. He turned up for Western Suburbs of Sydney. Sandeep Lamichhane played the ICC World XI squad for Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge against the West Indies. Sandeep Lamichhane bagged Caribbean Premier League contract, where St Kitts and Nevis Patriots signed him up during the CPL auction in London for a fee of $5,000.
