Sea Point got its name in 1767 when one of the commanders serving under Captain Cook, Sam Wallis, encamped his men in the area to avoid a smallpox epidemic in Cape Town at the time.
It grew as a residential suburb in the early 1800s, and in 1839 was merged into a single municipality with neighboring Green Point.
Sea Point is situated between Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean, and is only minutes away from the Cape Town city center, the V & A Waterfront and the CTICC. In fact, most of Sea Point climbs the progressive slope of Signal Hill, giving the homes and accommodation here a fantastic view over the city and the Atlantic Ocean.
‘Rocklands’ takes its name from the original property, which stretched from the coast to Main road at this location. In 1870 the large house on the property was turned into the Rocklands Boarding house, which became a well-known landmark. The building was demolished in 1955 to make way for the offices of the SABC.
Today this charismatic 9th Floor Penthouse captures the original integrity of its neighboring predecessors.
