We go to Tijuana every month to help clients talk to CBP, and the number one question we ALWAYS get is: How do I stay safe in Tijuana!? Tijuana has a really bad reputation for violence, and the truth is that reputation is not unfounded. There is, tragically, quite a lot of murder & violent crimes that happen in the city.
At the same time, that violence is OVERWHELMING concentrated in a few key areas, and takes place between rival gangs. While bystanders can be injured in these fights, tourist injuries are relatively rare. Millions and millions of tourists go to Tijuana every year, so the Mexican government has a strong interest in keeping tourists safe, and the tourism money flowing.
So, while there is risk associated with traveling to Tijuana, that risk can be MITIGATED. We made this video to address our clients' safety concerns, and share the most important tips we give to our clients to keep them safe.
