FRANKLIN, Ohio (Larry Davis) -- It's a big day for an Ohio National Guard unit as the soldiers return home from deployment in Afghanistan.Members of the 437th Military Police Battalion were reunited with their families Friday afternoon at Franklin High School. The unit deployed last April. Friday was especially important for Lieutenant Duane Pelfrey of the Seven Mile Police Department. He is welcoming back a fellow officer who is also his son, Kaycee Pelfrey.Two-year-old Stella Campbell had just one question for her daddy on Friday. It hung around her neck and read, Daddy be my Valentine. Matt Campbell smiled as he told her, Yes I definitely will, yes!Campbell and fellow members of the National Guard's 437th Military Police Battalion returned to a welcome home reception Friday at Franklin High School. Kaycee Pelfrey got hugs from members of his family. Soon he will be rejoining his father, Duane, as an officer on the Seven Mile Police Department. I was able to pin his badge on him. We've had many days of patrolling together. What a wonderful feeling to have your son beside you in a patrol car, his father Duane said.Kaycee admits there is a stark contrast to policing Afghanistan compared to Seven Mile. He said, Seven Mile is a little bit like Mayberry, you know, it's a small country town a lovely community. And it is a pleasure to work there. It's been a tough past few months for the Pelfrey family, especially Kaycee's sister Ashley. Her young son passed away back in August; her boyfriend charged in his death. Kaycee's homecoming Friday was the good news the family had long been waiting for. It feels great to have my brother home, it's the only good thing that's happened this year, Ashley said.Kaycee's father called it the highlight of the year so far.
